This two pager is one of many black book illustrations in a series titled; BEEF, that I will continue to work on in the near future. In this one I drew Woody Woodpecker going up against the Crazy Cat. I thought instead of drawing a cartoon type of background I opted it out and instead drew a more real urban background. By doing this I set up an off beat less cartoony world. It grounds the characters in a gritty urban street setting. Helping to emphasize the drama of the title of the running theme Beef. I also pushed the amount of detail in this illustration by adding things like graffiti tags, a garbage can, sandwich’s and even a lotto sign. All of these bits help to further convey the theme.
